SHEVCHENKO STILL UNHAPPY AT CHELSEA

November 29, 2007- Andriy Shevchenko’s future with Chelsea is once more uncertain after the Ukraine captain admitted he was still unhappy at Stamford Bridge.

Shevchenko has failed to shine under new coach Avram Grant despite the introduction of a sprint coach and different training techniques. The striker had to settle for a place on the substitutes’ bench until the second half of the impressive 4-0 defeat of Rosenborg in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Roman Abramovich, Chelsea’s billionaire owner, was convinced that Grant was the man to get the best out of the club-record signing but so far there has been little recognised improvement. “We had good results last week, so it’s difficult to complain. I’m not happy, but what can I do, I keep working and being quiet,” Shevchenko told a newspaper in his homeland.

The Chelsea star was also asked about the club’s interest in Croatia midfielder Luka Modric, but Shevchenko replied: “I know that Modric has been mentioned, but I don’t know anything more about it. “I come to the training or match, and then I go home. I’m not interested in what’s going on up there in the offices, neither would they tell me anything, even if I would ask them.”

When asked whether Modric would fit into Chelsea’s team, Shevchenko said: “I failed fitting into the team myself, so I don’t have the right to talk about other guys.”

GRANT, SHEVA HAS A R0LE
Blues boss says unhappy ace is required, 30th November 2007.

Chelsea manager Avram Grant has confirmed unhappy striker Andrei Shevchenko is part of his plans. The former Milan ace revealed on Thursday his disappointment at slipping down Grant's pecking order.

While the Ukraine international striker stated he was unhappy he insists he will not be seeking showdown talks. Grant has now responded by confirming the 31-year-old will be given a first-team run. "Everyone needs to respect Shevchenko. He's one of the best strikers in the history of football," he stated. "He belongs to the team. He's not playing at the moment, but it doesn't mean a lot about the future. I'm sure he will be useful for us."

Chelsea are currently on a 13-game unbeaten run and Grant is aiming for as much silverware as possible. "We want to succeed in the Champions League, Premier League and FA Cup. We're in a good position. We are focussed now so anything can happen."
